Improving Container Lead Generation with Location-Based SEO
In this case study, you’ll discover how aboveA helped Viva Containers increase quote requests and search visibility by restructuring their URLs, revamping the customer journey, and launching local, intent-driven landing pages. If you’re facing similar growth barriers, you’ll learn actionable strategies to boost conversions and rank for what your customers are actually searching for.
The Challenge
Viva Containers, a fast-growing provider of new and used shipping containers, had a strong product offering but a disorganized digital experience. Users had a hard time finding the right container for their needs, whether for sea freight, construction storage, or resale.
The site architecture was flat, the URLs were cluttered and inconsistent, and the same landing pages were being served to buyers in vastly different markets (e.g., New York and Mexico).
The biggest problems:
Low conversion rate despite decent traffic
High bounce rate on product listing pages
No local or use-case pages to rank for specific buyer searches
Lack of clarity in customer flow from product exploration to inquiry
Our Strategy
To solve the existing issues, our team had to implement multiple tactics to fix the website. Here are some of the solutions we applied:
1. URL Structure Overhaul
We created a hierarchical, scalable URL structure organized by:
Container types (
/20ft-containers/
,/40ft-high-cube/
)Locations (
/containers-in-paris/
,/containers-in-hamburg/
)Use cases (
/containers-for-storage/
,/containers-for-export/
)
Each page was mapped and appropriately redirected, with clear canonical tags and schema added to prevent crawl issues.
2. Customer Journey Revamp
We streamlined the user path by:
Adding filtering tools by size, condition, and usage
Introducing clear CTAs: “Get Quote,” “Check Delivery Availability,” “Compare Types”
Rewriting content to match purchase intent rather than general browsing
3. Landing Page Redesign
We redesigned all key landing pages with:
A fold-first quote form
Trust signals (reviews, delivery timelines, warranties)
Fast-loading galleries with real product photos
Responsive UX optimized for mobile buyers
4. Local & Use Case Pages
We built over 50+ location-based pages, such as:
“Shipping Containers for Sale in Newark”
“Buy Storage Containers in Dallas”
“20ft Containers for Export in California”
Each page targeted long-tail, high-intent keywords, supported by schema markup and internal links to product specs and quote forms.
Results After 3 Months
Over just three months, Viva Containers saw a sharp improvement in both traffic quality and conversion performance. Our SEO and funnel upgrades delivered measurable outcomes across multiple KPIs, from organic growth to user actions.
Conversion rate
Throughout the last year, conversion rates were inconsistent – often hovering between 4% and 6%. However, after implementing search-intent SEO, a new quote flow, and product-location page targeting, Viva Containers began seeing steady, reliable improvement month by month.

By June, the conversion rate climbed to 13.9%, more than tripling from the initial rate just a year earlier. This upward trend reflects more than design fixes; it proves that aligning with buyer intent drives better-qualified leads and increases the likelihood of purchase.
Growth Metrics After SEO Optimization Chart
These conversion wins were part of a wider growth story. We also tracked major improvements in other critical areas:
Organic Traffic rose by 62.3% – from 693 to over 1,100 monthly visits
Organic Keywords increased by 16.7%, expanding Viva’s visibility in Google for high-converting, product-specific terms
Product/Location Clicks (non-branded searches) surged by 30%, showing buyers are now finding Viva via targeted, purchase-ready queries like “20ft container Texas” or “storage container for farm use”

Why It Worked?
By combining technical SEO (URL structure) with intent-based design (journey + copy) and location personalization, Viva Containers became more visible for the types of searches that convert, like “Buy 20ft container near Newark” or “Shipping container for farm storage in Texas.”
The layered strategy allowed us to:
- Serve localized leads faster
- Rank for niche product+use combos
- Reduce clicks on quote forms
- Improve mobile experience dramatically
